Aluminium joinery built from EVIAL profiles. It is chosen where PVC cannot go — large dimensions, shopfronts, sliding systems and conservatories, where the profile has to carry the span without bending.
With and without thermal break
Aluminium conducts heat very well, which for a window is a flaw. That is why heated rooms get a profile with a thermal break: the outer and inner halves of the profile are physically separated by a polyamide strip that does not conduct heat. Without it the window would sweat and drip in winter.
A profile without a thermal break is cheaper and perfectly adequate where there is no heating — garages, storage rooms, warehouses, internal partitions, balcony railings. There is no point paying for a thermal break on a storeroom door.
Where aluminium beats PVC
For an ordinary residential window PVC is usually the better choice. Aluminium is chosen when one of these applies:
- Large dimensions — the aluminium profile is stiffer, so it holds a bigger span with a slimmer frame and less glass is hidden behind it.
- Shopfronts and commercial entrance doors — hundreds of openings a day, where PVC hardware gives out sooner.
- Sliding and folding systems — large glazed leaves that slide aside.
- Conservatories and glass partitions — a structure that also has to carry a roof.
- A slim visible frame — when the aim is as much glass and as little profile as possible.
Powder coating and colour
Aluminium is protected by powder coating — the powder is applied electrostatically and baked in an oven, so the layer becomes part of the surface rather than a film that peels. The full RAL palette is available, matt or gloss.
The colour can differ inside and out, which is easier with aluminium than with PVC. Anthracite RAL 7016 and brown shades are the most requested, but any shade in the palette can be done.

Frequently asked questions
Does aluminium joinery sweat in winter?
A profile with a thermal break does not sweat under normal conditions. A profile without one will, which is why it is not fitted in heated rooms. Condensation on the glass is a separate matter and depends on room humidity and airing, not on the frame material.
How long does powder coating last?
The coating is baked onto the profile and does not peel like paint. With normal care — washing with water and a mild detergent — the colour holds for years without refinishing. The aluminium underneath does not rust.
Can aluminium be matched to existing PVC joinery?
It can, and it is often done that way: PVC on the rooms, aluminium on a large living-room opening or a conservatory. The same RAL shade and a similar foil pattern make the difference invisible from outside.
