PVC windows and doors
Windows and doors built from Austrian ALUPLAST profiles with six chambers, German WINKHAUS hardware and THERMOPAN glazing. Everything is cut to your opening — no stock sizes, no adjusting on site.
Why six chambers
A chamber inside the profile is a sealed pocket of air. Air that cannot circulate conducts heat poorly, and that is exactly what makes it a good insulator. More chambers means more of those barriers between the outside and the inside of the frame, so heat has a harder time crossing it.
Three-chamber profiles were the standard twenty years ago and are still sold as the cheapest option. A six-chamber profile gives noticeably better insulation for a price difference that comes back through heating bills, which is why we fit it as our default.
What goes into a window
A window is more than a profile. Four things together decide how it will behave:
- Profile — ALUPLAST, six chambers, 70 mm installation depth.
- Steel reinforcement — a steel insert runs inside the profile. Without it a large sash warps over the years from sun and frost.
- Hardware — WINKHAUS, with multiple locking points around the sash and a micro-ventilation setting.
- Glazing — THERMOPAN, double 4/16/4 as standard, triple or Low-E on request.
Tilt and turn
The standard window we build opens two ways: turn (swings inward like a door) and tilt (the top leans in for airing). The handle has three positions — closed, open, tilted.
Tilt is what gets used most in winter: the room airs out without a draught and without chilling the walls. WINKHAUS hardware also has an intermediate setting for micro-ventilation, where the sash stays open by a few millimetres.
Colours and finishes
White is the most common and the cheapest, because it is the colour of the profile itself. Wood finishes and RAL shades are applied as a foil, and can differ inside and out — anthracite towards the street, white towards the room.
Dark shades absorb more heat, so large south-facing sashes always get steel reinforcement with them. We tell you that at the measuring visit, before you pick a colour.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between double and triple glazing?
Double glazing has two panes and one cavity, triple has three panes and two cavities. Triple insulates better against both heat and noise, but it is heavier — it needs stronger hardware and makes no sense on small openings. For a bedroom facing a busy street it pays off; for a storage room it does not.
Do PVC windows turn yellow over time?
A quality profile with UV stabiliser does not yellow noticeably. Yellowing was common with cheap unprotected profiles. The ALUPLAST profiles we fit have UV stabilisation through the body of the profile, not just on the surface.
Can PVC windows be fitted in winter?
Yes. Installation foam has a winter formulation for lower temperatures. Fitting a single opening is quick, so the room does not cool down significantly.
